Serious Masturbation Help!

Hello, I am age 14 and I have a very painful bad addiction to masturbation. I know that the majority of people believe that it is OK but I just personally dont believe so and I have tried time and time again to stop. I have been doing it for 2-3 years and I get very sad that I cannot stop. I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS! please help me to stop completely!

I have been masterbating ever since 12, and have felt extremly guilty about it ever sincre. I would sneak to the family computer around 1 most nights just to get some porn, and hope dearly nobody would come to the bathroom. Letting peolple know about this problem makes me feel so much lighter now. I haven't imasterbated in a week now, and my suggestion to anybody who has this same issue is to pray to god that he will help you fight the lust inside of you and to heal the wound that you've placed apon yourself every night before bed.

Hi Trinity,

I am a 40 year old male who has struggled with porn addiction for a long long time. Personally, I have found Christ/God centred efforts to help me. I grew up in the Catholic Church, and the guilt trip/shame trip only served to push it under in my life (ie I used to keep it hidden, going to extremes like breaking into buildings to do it). For me practically, if I do do it, to not beat up on myself for doing it. Accepting it was the first major step that helped me regain control in my life, though I had abuse and trauma very young which I had to face - this latter stuff took a lot longer for me to bring to light, and until I did enough of that sort of work, I was battling only at the symptom level. However, again paradoxically, I had to stop doing it for long enough to start to both be able to hit the deeper stuff and to both recognise my inability on my own resources to deal with (what is for me) a huge problem and to also turn to God for help. My battle is not over of course. Even in the past week, I went 3 days again without masturbating, then hit a relatively huge patch of painful emotions, got through that, felt fine, felt the battle had been won for that day then fell. The only difference today in my life, as compared to 4 years ago, is that whilst I still fall of my "horse" today, I spend less time on the ground, and I tend to fall off less and I don't dwell as long about the falling.

Hi, my name is Tim. I am still struggling with this at 42. It can mess your nervous system up. You really need to concentrate on healing and not  let your brain chemistry get altered. My email  is ***@****. I can coach you and let you know where to get a book to help. It helped me. Do this now before it gets to you like it got to me. It is why I have problems with anxiety. It is the serotonin, dopamine that are released climax that is being depleted. It can also make you depend on it and you will miss out on some good relationships. I do not want you to end up like me. I am a great guy but never married because I could always go back to the old dependable standby. you are very smart to try and correct this know. Go to your library and read the final freedom by Dr. Douglas Weiss. It helped me.

I can't help you stop by just a few words here, but I can suggest that you find a school counselor, or teacher, or doctor, or clergyman or relative or parent to whom you can talk about this with, explore, and understand more deeply why you are so upset, and what you can do about it. Somewhere there is someone you can trust to help you.

For heaven's sake, don't ask a Catholic priest about masturbation -- unless you're willing to trade the masturbation "problem" for a HUGE guilt complex!

Sexual pleasure is normal, and to want to gratify yourself often - daily, or even twice a day sometimes- is completely normal (especially at your age).  I believe that masturbating is the tool that God gave us to learn to become sexually healthy as adults.  Many women who did not masturbate as teenagers have become sexually dysfunctional, and it has caused much anxiety in their lives, and problems in their marriages.

If your masturbating is keeping you from doing thing that need to be done, or stopping you from being social with your friends, then I would say that is a problem.  But masturbating itself is not a problem physically, or spiritually (in my opinion)

Have you ever been caught masterbating?
Have you been told by your parents that it is wrong?
Do you fantasize about being hurt or hurting others when you masturbate?

I am a spiritual person, and am a child of my merciful and lovng God.  My ultimate goal in this life is to become the person that God intends me to be, by helping others and by doing the next right thing.  God does not expect me to be perfect, and if it is a defect in God's eyes to masturbate, then I do believe that he would forgive me for it.
