bloodwork

I have been left with a family practice and a Dr. I do not know very well. Last month after getting on Celexa for a return of the panic attacks, he asked me to stop by the lab for some blood work.  When I got the statement it was over 3 thousand dollars.  He had ordered ten single drug class tests among other things.  He never mentioned the tests beforehand.  I wouldn't have felt so violated. He said the tests were routine for anyone taking a controlled substance.  I've been on klonopin(1 1/2 mg per day) for five years.  My other Dr. never tested me.  This Dr. says he tests often.  My tests came out fine, but I feel like there was a trust issue here. I have a son that's been on Concerta for years and  he's never been tested.  Am I paranoid or what?  is this really standard practice or does he think I look like a substance abuser??

Nobody I know does any blood test when you are on Klonopin.  You may want to pursue this further.

this whole story seems very bizarre --- Let me get this strait,   he tested your blood for certain drugs which you weren't even on?
