daughter having seizures for 8 years now

she is 22 now started at 14 around the time of her first period. First one grand mall, the after the 2nd grand mall she was put on tegratol 2x day. once every 6 to 7 months she would still have them. after about the 5th year they became more frequent like every 4 months or so and always around period time. dr said she is not epileptic i guess they could tell from ekg etc... her eyes twitch often before seizures. sometimes she doesnt have seizures but she is in a daze for a 2 - 3 days. its like here brain has misfires and she is real slow and not very coherent. we put her on the pill last year because she was gettin married. they seemed to increase now it is almost every month when she is on the red pills. triggers we have determined over the years are lack of sleep, stress (she is a college student) and hormones. this is getting very stressful for all of us. Does this sound familiar to anyone and do you have any suggestions.

I don't know a huge amount about seizures but know that they are pretty disturbing to watch.
If I want additional information on a subject I will often Google it.  Wikipedia is my favorite source at the moment.  It seems relatively informative.

My mother underwent an eeg plus she has had CT and MRI's of her brain.

Maybe the eyes twitching and being spacey is her having a seizure.  Maybe not a grand mal but maybe another type.

Periods can be a source of stress.  I have learned through some things the doctor has written that bleeding can represent a lot of different things to different people.  It seems to tie in a little with important life transitions.

It almost sounds as though she is in a trance or hypnotic state.
Different things can trigger seizures too.  Lights and noise are two that come to mind.

Is the doctor referring to pseudo seizures??  We've had this discussion here before.  I can't remember the term given to it.  I think what happens is that when a person is significantly stressed they have a 'seizure' versus face the reality of the situation.  This too is a very real problem.

I don't have the answers to your questions.  I just wanted to offer support more than anything.

what is the test procedure for epilepsy. i quite dont remember them doing tests besides the ekg and a test where they put her on a table that moved her in all different directions to see if that affected her in any way. there is a lot more involved. i do believe it is a form of complex partial seizures.
if she has a seizure she is fine except for a headache after. but if she doesnt have one, her eyes twitch, and she is spacey for 2 to 3 days. i am not a dr but i dont believe it is a form of anxiety. it only happens around her period time. why would that be considered anxiety. if she is standing before a seizure, she walks in circles. at one time she was staring at the fan in her bedroom and was watching the blades go round and round.

If she is not epileptic and all the other tests have been done, then you have to consider an unusual case of anxiety, and for that she should see an experienced senior psychiatrist who does more than prescribe medications so your daughter can get to the source so it does not influence her marriage adversely.
