Different conditions similar to what you described applies to different individuals depending on their age and acuteness of the presentation of symptoms.
However, you mentioned that she is taking "a lot of medications" and this is a concern that most physicians inadvertently miss. Some physicians sometimes forget that the medications may cause waht we call "drug-drug interaction" that causes subtle psychological changes to the patient.
On the other hand, your mother may be suffering from Major Depression because of her current physical state.
You may want to consult a psychiatrist to determine if she is suffereing from drug-drug interaction or a true psychiatric illness (eg.Major Depression)
I am a 57 year old women taking medication-all for quite some time. Adalat, Lotesin, Premarin, Dyazide. I had a hysteroctemomy 20 years ago. The last few months I seeem to be breaking out with yelling and screaming at my new husband and step-son for no reason at all. I also am always crying at different times. I have a good life, wonderful husband and things are wonderful for me so I shouldn't be crying like I do, but I just can't help it. What do you think my problem is???? Thank-you
