paxil effects

Hello,

I've been on 10mg of paxil now for 6 days, the symptoms I have are, dry eyes especially at nite, they hurt when I open them, BLURRY vision throughout the day, inablility to sleep, plugged ears when I yawn dizziness and headache also I am on adivan which does nothing to relax me. Are these symptoms common and how long do they last.  What are the risks with weight gain on this low dose and is it easier to wean off of such a small dose if it is nto right for me?

Also my Dr did not mention drug interactions... what drugs do you need to stay away from while on paxil?  I hear you cannot even have a glass of wine, thanks for your time.

p.s., what other drugs are out there if paxil is not right for me?

Hi had anyone else out there had frequent urination while on paxil?  I heard it linked to neurological diseases and after a so called clean bill of health, sent to a therapist, I am more nervous about the urination.  If anyoen else has this on paxil please post.  Thank you.

Dear anonymous,

Side effects such as inability to sleep, blurred vision, headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting can occur from the use of Paxil.  but they get relieved after taking the medication for about 1-2 weeks. There is a relatively low risk of weight gain with the dose that you are taking now. Alcohol, Medications such as MAOI

Hi,

I was on Paxil for a few months, 10mg.  It did help me a lot. At first I couldn't sleep and then I was very tired all the time.  In the beginning I had upset stomach, low grade headaches and loss of ability to orgasm.  Six months into it I began to gain weight, I gained something like 15 pounds in 4 weeks.  Very scary, it just snuck up on me.  However, this is my personal experience.  Your side effects may go away and you may not gain any weight at all.  I went off by weaning down over the course of a month.  I did experience some withdrawal but it was minor.  The only thing you can do is try a medication and see if it's right for you.  I tried a number of them and my body just won't tolerate them.

Good Luch to you!
