6-16-2003:
I went off of Celexa when my prescription ran out and they wouldn't renew it over the phone - they wanted me to come in and be seen, but I'm very busy with work.
I found myself dizzy, sometimes. Not all of the time. I could drive just fine, but getting into and out of the car would cause a little wave of dizzyness, which was mildly nauseating. Also, turning the corner while walking would cause it.
I had no clue it was the Celexa. So finally I made an appointment to be seen for the dizzyness and to follow-up on getting more Celexa. They prescribed more for me and also drew blood to run tests on.
About three days later I realized I wasn't dizzy anymore. Since it took three days, I still hadn't really put two and two together and gotten four, yet.
Just now an assistant from the doctor's office called - my results were all negative, nothing was wrong with me. She said that the doctor (Well, RN+++ something or 'nother) said that if my dizzyness had gone away once I had started back on the Celexa, to make a follow-up appointment for next month, else if it were still effecting me I should make an appointment for sooner.
That's when it clicked for me, and I searched Google for "Celexa" and "Dizzy". I got tons of hits, this was one of them.
My memory hasn't been that great lately either, but I don't have a good way to measure that.
Just thought I'd share, thanks.
Surmontil is rarely used today because of the side effects, and because Celexa can do the same thing without the risk. There is not much I can tell you about the itching...Surmontil does create a rash, and does have many different side effects, so withdrawal may precipitate a rash, and if that is the cause, it should be self limiting and not last more than about a week.
Its best to stay away from these medications, as you are now doing, if you can. There are a lot of complications like this.
