zoloft takers please help

about three years ago i suffered my first full blown panic attack
when i was diagnosed with panic anxiety disorder and ocd i was given xanax and paxil.  within a month i was feeling great. took
the paxil for about a year. then tried to get off and had extreme withdrawls. once i was completely off them i swore i would never take paxil again. well, here i am with extreme panic and anxiety and i need help.  my doctor wants to try me on zoloft.  i am so afraid tho take it because of my experience with paxil, but i need to do something.  do the benefits of the drug outweigh the withdrawals later? thanks so much.

Have you heard of Buspar?  I've heard this is wonderful in relation to panic.  I was on zoloft, paxil and prozac for panic and had fine results with all, except for nasty sexual side effects from prozac.  I went off that.  There are so many drugs available for this now - ask your doctor.  They are not all necessarily in the paxil/prozac family, so I am sure there will be one to fit your needs.  It takes so long to find one that works - hang in there and don't give up because there is hope.  I'm living proof!

I am on 300mg per day of Zoloft for PTSD - Depression & Anxiety, my only reactions to this drug have been:
1. Diahorrea for about 3 weeks.
2. Inability to ejaculate when having sex.

My phsyc & GP have told me that Zoloft is gone from the body after 24hrs of stopping, so if you & your wife/partner want to have good sex, stop the Zoloft 2 days prior and start again afterwards, ie stop Thursday start Monday for a "dirty weekend" to coin a phrase. I have never had any withdrawal symptoms, but you sense the anger etc begin to reappear by the Monday though.

Aren't you also taking Zanax? If so, you need to figure out if what your are actually experiencing is a withdrawal that you may believe is stictly anxiety? Zanax leaves your system very quickly and you may be confusing that. My father is also on that and finally we realized what he was perceving as anxiety is part of withdrawal. as long as you have enough in your system your okay. Just consider it.

Ive been on zoloft 150 mg for about a year and it has helped me tremendously!  The only side effect that I have noticed is sexual dysfunction.  That bothers me, but my husband and I agree that I am much better off taking my medication, so we try to work around it as best we can.  My diagnosis is BiPolar II with OCD tendencies and anxiety.  I also take between 50mg and 75mg of topamax to help with the mood swings.  I have been on a pretty even keel ever since my psychiatrist prescribed this combination of medication.

Have you ever tried clomapramine.  I took 50 mg for about a year for extreme panic and found it very helpful.

Paxil is the worst for withdrawals because it is so short acting. Zoloft is much easier, and usually just as effective.
