Hello and welcome!  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time!

Depending on where in your brain you had the stroke, that could cause you to feel depressed.  A person who has a stroke on the left side of the brain (causing the right-side of the body to be affected) often deal with a lot of emotional lability, sadness and depression.

I would ask to see a neurologist, and talk about that first, because if the stroke is playing a big role in the depression, it would be approached a little differently, possibly with meds and cognitive therapy.

Once you talk with a neurologist...if the stroke doesn't seem to be a causative factor, then you really should seek some professional help.  Therapy is a must.  You're dealing with the aftermath of a stroke that has changed your body and is affecting your function.  That's very traumatic.  Ask your doc for a referral to a psychiatrist, so you can further explore some treatment options.  You actually could do BOTH the neuro and the psych doctors.  That's a good idea.

Best to you, please let us know how you're doing.
