Antidepressants

Hi,  Please can anyone explain why anti-depressants give you an appetite.  I have been on Prozac and Amitryptiline and have piled on weight.  What do these meds do to the mind to make this happen.

They don't know why. Studies on drugs find out side effects but not the reason for the side effects.

It is very common to gain weight and feel hungry because certain meds affect areas of the brain obviously and therefore we have the urge to eat more,etc,just like many ssri's will lower sex drive.
