Hello Chick;
I only joined thiswebsite recently and got to read your post today. I, as you, am also on Effexor, for about a year and a half now, slowly working my way up in the dose. I am now at 225 and feeling good. I am back to being busy, having fun with my daughter who will be three in Sept and doing quite a bit around the house as well.
My question to you is, how long have you been on your meds and when do you think you might start decreasing your dose to slowly get off of it? Please write as much as you can I'd like to learn more about the condition or whatever can be useful in treating it. Thank you
Maca
As leftcoast explained in her reply, yes you are experiencing antidepressant withdrawl.
I was on a high dosage of Effexor for many years and when I had to switch it for another medication the withdrawl was really bad so a good several weeks.
That was even with a slow taper off program. Don't be alarmed if the withdrawl lasts much longer than 10 days. It can sometimes take several weeks before the symptoms fade.
Because you were prescribed Cymbalta, I will assume that your doctor has diagnosed you with Major Depression. Are you switching to a different medication or just going med free?
mentaly tired
I am with your. I mean yesterday was a national holiday and I had so much planned + I had extreme withdrawals after stopping 2 days ago.
So last night took 30mg, Cymbalta again because I was in pieces. Also it is extremely hot where I am living + phew.....
I have started Valdoxan, on it two weeks now, I would like to start a thread reporting how that is going, but I am too overcome by the Cymbalta withdrawals.
Thank you left coast (or should I call you chick?) for giving me some hope!
Unfortunately what you are going through is extremely common. The withdrawals symptoms are what I call the Zaps, you may also get vertigo and nausea. This will pass usually 7-10days. Are you switching to another med, and if so what kind? Usually when you are at a low level of this drug, you can switch over to another, I did that with Effexor, and it eased up the symptoms. I would speak to your doctor again. I ended up on Ativan when I was weaning of Cymbalta, it was pure hell. At least it ends. I hope this helps.
