Cannot walk without holding other's hand

My 72 years old wife has never taken any medicine in life. She has no serious disease. Depressed by sudden immigration of her grown up children to Canada she lost control over her limbs. She could not stand without support. A psychiatrist gave her a mental treatment and we saw her stand on her legs. Presently she is otherwise hale and hearty but cannot walk without holding a hand. How can we bring her confidence back? Medication, no she will never agree.  Do we have other means like reflexology or pricking etc?

Yeah i have to agree, it sounds as if her heart has been broke and she needs all that love and attention right now.  When matters of the heart cut deep it can affect the body in so many different ways, oviously it has affected her strength, she needs to feel those that are still here close to her, so be gentle with her and let her hold a hand, better still rap your arms around her and tell her how much she is loved.  Take care and all the best. x

Why not let her hold a hand for now?  She is elderly and very saddened by what has happened, she's not asking for much, just a hand to hold.  It may be that she just feels the need to hold a hand to feel close to those she has around her.  She may get over this with time, or accept medication, but for now it's like grieving the loss of her children, indulge her and give her some time.  Take care.
