Does anyone else take this? I'm doing this all alone, not told family or friends and I'm scared of doing this on my own.. Any advice from anyone who is/has been on Citalopram please? X

Yes I take it.  You will notice it working when you can't remember how you feel now.

Hi there!

Firstly, well done for going to your doctors and making such a big step without telling family! Although I'm sure they would understand! Don't consider yourself as doing this by yourself, we are here for you every step of the way.

I've used Citalopram since 2010. It will help but in the early stages you have to give it time. After a while I felt my 10mg dose wasn't enough so I went off them....bad idea!
Consult your doctor about them, although I'm sure you'll be asked back in a few weeks to talk about it with them.
I recently went back on them. 20mg and quickly after that 40mg after I landed myself in hospital.

Here's the thing. Citalopram, like all SSRIs are great for lifting that cloud from over your head. Especially the anxiety. Before I was on my meds I couldn't leave the house, gripped with panic.
Take advantage when they begin to work, because they only do so much. The rest is up to you. To see a counsellor if necessary. Or become more active, join groups and find out what makes you happy and balanced.

Try not to forget to take them or come off them suddenly - especially if you are on a large dose. It will give you the worst migraines!
And drinking alcohol is a big no no!!! I can't stress that enough!

Good luck! If you ever need a chat or help don't hesitate to PM me.
Give them time! They're great, but they're not magic!

I believe it's an SSRI and is good for depression, you will have to wait and see if it works for you and if it's the right medication.Give it 4 to 6 weeks to kick in.
