Depression

I am currently taking 1mg of Klonipin, 20mg Ambien, 200mg Nortriptyline and 50mg Seroquel.  Pharmacist are just can't believe that I take that much every night.  I find myself waking up, getting out of bed and my legs are like jello.  I cannot walk, I fall on things and actually get hurt.  When I get up the next morning I see bruises all over me. I want to stop taking any of those so I guess I need to wing myself off.  If I miss one day, I am so disoriented it is horrible.  I basically walk around in a trance.  I don't know why I need so much to help me sleep but my doctor says to do it.  Everytime I go see my doctor (General Practicioner) he has me feel out a mood disorder questionaire and my answers determine my medication.  What do you recommend I do to get off of these?  I just got laid off my job so I do not have health insurance to see someone else.  I still have refills so I pay cash for these.

Nortriptilyne is a sedating antidepressant, Seroquel is very sedating, and Klonopin can also be very sedating. Not to mention the Ambian (sleeping agent)

No wonder your knocked out half the time. What doctor would prescribe a sedation combination such as that for Depression or even Bi-polar?

The drugs aren't the problem, but rather your doctor is the problem. Did this guy get his Psychiatric licence from a cracker jack box?

Find a new Psychiatrist ASAP.

Mate, this doctor is an idiot. Change docs and get some sensible advice and treatment.

No doctor should prescribe off a checklist in response to a questionaire. That tells you he knows nothing about the meds and is actually dangerous, not helpful. Change docs, now. The pharmacist has also told you this in other words. Right? Do it.
