Depression

I am depressed? Well I feel really sad and I have a very low self esteem. I cry for no reason. I haven't tried to go out or text my friends even though I used to do it all the time. I shut out my family and don't want to talk about stuff with them anymore. I feel really ugly. I can't sleep till really late. I get into silly fights with my family and I get massive mood swings. Sometimes I don't want to talk to anyone even though I used to be very sociable. I just feel really sad all the time. I am not suicidal. I now hate going to school even though I have friends. I don't feel like doing any of my hobbies like I used to before. I hate myself. What do I do? What is happening to me? Do and how do I tell my parents? They are both doctors and I am afraid my dad will get mad at me.. I don't want to worry them. Oh also I get these HORRIBLE headaches at least five times a week. Pills don't really help. It's probably migraines.

If you're afraid that your Dad will get mad, then start with your mother.  But I doubt that your Dad will be mad at you.  You definitely need some medical help.  Also if you have headaches that often, then you definitely need to get a daily preventative migraine medication.  Because otherwise if you take any pain reliever, even OTC ones, more than twice a week, you risk rebound headaches which may be what is happening to you.  Having horrible headaches 5 days a week would be enough to cause anyone mental problems.  I KNOW because I've had severe chronic migraines every day until I got special help for them.  But until I got enough help, I was nearly suicidal from the quality of my life from those horrible migraines.  So seek help for all your problems.  Talk to your parents.  They definitely need to know.

You are really lucky to have 2 doctors in your house....Please take advantage of their intelligence and love they have for you...Good doctors and parents know that no one asks for depression or gets it on purpose....Your parents may not be able to treat you but certainly can point out the best therapy and best therapists that are out there for you....

You can recover from this malady.....It takes hard work and a bit of determination and a lot of faith, but I have good vibes about you and
hope you come back and tell me how well you are doing in a couple of weeks....

Good luck to you, wishing you the very best
