Effexor XR and sore throat
I have a sore throat and my symptoms keep worsening. I am also on Effexor XR and I know I can't take nurofen cold n flu or aspirin... I have some sore throat lozenges at home which have dequalinium chloride as the active ingredient along with ascorbic acid. I have tried searching the internet for possible interactions but I can't find anything in regards to that. Is there something about it I should be worried about?
If so, what alternatives would you suggest?
I tried contacting my doctor but I can't reach her.

My parents had contacted another doctor that day who told them that it's mainly antibiotics that one can't take and I can take panadol.
I didn't.
My sore throat nightmare was over in one day, I tried salt water gargle and it helped. I was sick for 4 days and I'm ok now. For the nose I used a sterimar nasal spray , which helped me through the running and congested nose symptom.
After asking around and doing some research, I found that using Medica Qualifar should be Okay, since it has a topical application. It's a spray for sore throats and coughs. I bought it , although I don't need it; but who knows in the future if I will need it.
also, I found herbal (homeopathic) pastilles for the sore throat at the pharmacy.

Maybe you should take rhe sore throat med. one day then the pain killers the next but I'm not really sure I would ask your doctor.
I am on Effexor XR and did not know I should not take certain over the counter medicines. When I have a sore throat (which I have at the moment) I take lozenges and and pain killers. Here I am at 3am feeling really poorly with a sore throat and have just sucked some lozenges and taken some pain killers.
I have been on Effexor XR for quite a few years, and always sucked lozenges and taken cough mixtures. What happens if I do this then? I have frequent sore throats. Never thought I shouldn't do this.
