How do i help my friend??

one of my best friends is seriously depressed and suicidal... i'm trying to stay supportive and offer any help/advice i have, but now i just feel like its getting worse and i dont know what to do anymore... i dont know how to make things better for her, or how to help her get to a better state of mind... please help, i'm running out of ideas and i feel like she's running out of reasons to stay...

I encouraged her to at least see a counselor at her school a while ago, but the school only offers about 8 sessions. The school does help set up students with long term therapists if they need that. Which I know she does, so i convinced her to do that too. She's started seeing a therapist who she's not sure about but her counselor at school said to try him out for a little while. I talked to her counselor on the phone a little while ago and she explained how the counseling center at her school can help her get therapists and she can keep going back to the counseling center until they set her up with someone she feels most comfortable with. I think its partly the state of mind she's in thats keeping her from opening up to anyone or trusting them, so I hope if she gives this new therapist more of a chance she'll open up little by little.

Also, when i was on the phone with her counselor at school, she gave me the numbers for the police in the town where her school is... so if worse comes to worse... I have that. But she doesnt know I have that. If she did, she would stop telling me things alltogether, i'm sure... She promised me a little while ago she wouldn't kill herself, and she says thats been the only thing thats been keeping her here. But she's also mentioned she just wont tell me when she's about to do it. That way I wont be able to stop her... I'm scared. And eventhough she's not always talking about suicide, shes got so many problems with herself and constantly beats herself up over everything... I dont know how to help her anymore.

She needs to seek professional help, if she is suicidal while you are aroundor even tells you over the phone. , call to get help, even 911 if she is preparing, like giving things away, making plans for suicide. Getting the authorities involved is the most loving thing you can do, she may hate you, but you might be saving her life. I think that's more important that saving a relationship.
