Going off celexa because of memory loss

Hi. I was just wondering if going off Celexa would help ensure I get some of my memory back. My memory has become progressively worse since I went on the drug years ago. Mostly short-term, but to some extent long-term as well. I am heading to a masters program and later on hope to pursue a PhD, so I can no longer accept this issue. I have a feeling that my working memory has decreased as well, which is unacceptable.

I was never depressed, but I had severe anxiety issues and the drug has seemed to help it. If anyone has a suggestion for a drug that helps with anxiety but has absolutely no correlation to memory loss (I'm talking about real-life experiences, not studies done funded by the drug companies).

What alarms me is that I have seen some posts where people went off of Celexa and their 'brain fog' went away, but with others it stayed and their memory was permanently affected. I am hoping that the former is what happens most of the time.

If I go off Celexa, does anyone have any tips for a tapering off schedule that reduces side effects? I would like to start going off now, but I am about to take finals, so I do not want side effects messing with my grades.

Thanks!

The first thing dear is to work with youtr doctor on a schedule on tapering off, just stopping it is not a choice it could be very dangerous. I had the same problems with celexa those awful forgetfulness periods.

I also suffer from anxiety  so now i am taking cymbalta and it works great, at least for me it does, it does though make me tired so iI take it at night and it works for the next intire day.

Good luck with your studies!
