Headaches caused by antidepressants

About 10 years ago I used to take Prozac everyday and it made me feel better.  However I stopped after some time and during the past year have tried every drug in the market including prozac.  Everything has had some side effect on me.  Prozac and lexapro give me headaches.  Why does this happen?  Is there a cure for headaches if I want to continue with the medication?  Please advise.

I am on citalopram by LEG.  I feel I am getting headaches from this and when I took the generic by DR. Reddy, I didn't .  I also get very sleepy after taking this.  Anyone else with similar symptoms.

Hi kramvi,  I have headaches too, I read somewhere that it has to do with the increase in the serotonin.  My MD gave me esgic plus and it works well, especially if I catch the headache when it is just starting.  Eventually the frequency of the side effects and headaches diminishes with almost all the meds.  Good luck with your search for the right drug, I hope that your MD is making sure that you are trying the meds for at least 4-6 weeks before you switch to another.
