I sometimes have suicidal thoughts

Hi guys,

Life has been not easy lately, I don't know how and why, maybe because I got insomnia and had so many thoughts that I could stop thinking. I tried sleeping pills, cigarettes, but the stress didn't go away. Finance, study, work, all that stuff keep bumping around.

I have had the idea to kill myself, 4 times. I know that's weak, that's just me being over-dramatic like Hannah Baker.

Do I need help?

And I might add...are you exercising regularly? It is the wonder drug! Even taking a brisk walk can make you feel so much better!

Hi, you are experiencing LIFE, which causes much stress!!   It could be particularly stressful at THIS time. You MUST NOT HESITATE to speak to a professional who can help you realize that you are not alone, and can give you options to help you feel better! Seventy-plus percent of the human race experiences depression or mental issues at some point in their lives. Modern medicine is such that there are treatments - and subtle treatments - that will help you function more on an even keel. Insomnia: Are you a night person? Are you a teacher who had the summer off, went to bed really late each night, and is trying to get back in the habit of teaching, which means getting up at the crack of dawn? Insomnia is normal. Are you eating certain foods close to bedtime that could be somehow affecting your sleep? Drinking too much coffee after 6 p.m.? Do you snore? Do you wake up suddenly with a rapid heartbeat, coughing, or feeling like you are gasping for air? Maybe you have sleep apnea and you could be tested. Do you have a primary physician? If not, get one! They can refer you to any specialist they feel is needed, maybe diagnose some of your symptoms, and generally guide you through this. Many, many people, as they are trying to fall asleep, have trouble going to sleep because their thoughts are swirling around in their heads! Try writing down you thoughts as they come to you - anything - or try keeping a journal that you can write in regularly to describe your feelings. This will help! Please, PLEASE do not entertain the thought of suicide! WE NEED YOU!! Just know that you are not alone! There is help!

70%?  I just commented on another post of yours, and here you are making up a number.  How would you know?  Most people, especially men, don't tell anyone about these things so we haven't the slightest idea how many people suffer what is actually mental illness.  Stress is not a mental illness!  It's great to have more people helping here, but please, be accurate.
And I don't say this to be nasty -- I say it because this figure would scare people to death.

I am so sorry that you are having depression and emotional distress to the point of thinking of taking your life.  That's heartbreaking.  I think you need to see a psychiatrist and psychologist both for proper care to overcome this.  Your safety is the most important thing and once you start talking suicide, you need to make getting help and professional medical care a priority.  It can be hard and scary to do but your life is worth it!  hugs

Obviously, something is going on.  Life is never easy.  When it becomes overwhelming and it's just the same as it's always been, as in your case, again, something is going on.  If you can't figure out what's eating at you that's causing this change in you, I'd seek out a psychologist and see if the two of you can't figure it out.  In the meantime, do you exercise?  Ever tried meditation?  These are things that can help ease the stress.  If you do really have the urge to kill yourself, and only you know the answer to that, get help immediately.  This will pass, things get to us sometimes.  Peace.
