I have been on Effexor XR for 7 years.
I would like to go off the medication.
Went down to 75mg, then to 37 mg, then completely off.
I was so sick from nausea and vomiting I could not function! This lasted for 4 days and was so severe I had to take medication.
Had to be rushed to the emergency room.  Then take 150mg, and am fine in an hr or so.
How in the world does one get off this drug?
Someone should kick me in the behind for even taking it!
Thankyou for any help:-)

It certainly sounds like you have the right idea for tapering off effexor.
I really appreciate the help!
I am down to 75 mg per day from 150mg per day.  Alittle nauseated, but I can do it.
Going to drop down to 37 mg soon, and will try your regimen.
I feel so sorry for others going through the same thing.
I wish that all of us will be able to get through it without too much suffering.
In all honesty, I wish I had never started using it!!!
Most Sincerely,
Iola

I have been off for 9 days and have SEVERE diarrhea and upper GI cramps.  I am irritable and my mind is cloudy and the slightest thing is setting me off, esp sounds.  I have a 4 yr old and 2 yr old and poor things, I have been biting their heads off but I have to believe my going off this nasty drug will be the best thing for us all.  Its nasty side effects way out-weigh the benefits.  I too am looking for some relief, of at least the physical effects.

I am in the same boat with  you.  I have been off the meds for one week.  I am still dizzy and have the "brain zaps".  Luckily I haven't thrown up but I sure feel like I could.  I just want someone to help me relieve the symptoms or tell me how long I have to go through this.
