I do have compulsions... i feel the need to clean even when my house is spotless because im parinoid something might be missed placed or dirty.. i will litterally clean because i find some thing tiny on the floor and i will clean the whole house over again.. if somthing is dirty and im offered to go to like the coast i will stay home or clean before i go otherwise i cant have a good time because i get really anxious because i know i gotta clean when i get home. i cant focus on anything else if my house is dirty. i even loose sleep when its dirty and stay up all night cleaning even when the house is spotless. i find it very very hard to break my routine of cleaning... my husband has noticed it getting worse since i started taking my sleeping meds. If i cant clean right then and there i get super anxious and fidgety till i get to clean it.  and i dont live near pittsburgh i live in oregon

Hello!

There are many different anxiety related disorders.  There are also just people with type "A" personalities, or perfectionists.

OCD almost always comes with a compulsion.  For example...if someone feared germs, or getting ill...they would wash their hands constantly.  If a person with OCD had fears centering around safety, they make "checks" to ensure that they locked the door 25 times before bed...or they will check ALL the electrical outlets several times before leaving the house, making sure things are shut off, unplugged, etc.

It's hard from your brief post to determine whether or not you may have OCD, or an anxiety disorder, or if you're just a "neat freak".  Do you feel you have compulsions like I described above?  And, if you can't DO the compulsive behavior, does your anxiety skyrocket?

The only way to truly get to the bottom of this is to have a psychiatrist thoroughly evaluate you.  If you DO have OCD, there are several treatment approaches.  Even if you DON'T, you still may want to address the anxiety, and your constant need to be "perfect", at least where your house is concerned.

By the way...if you live anywhere near Pittsburgh, want to come here and help with MINE?  LOL.....talk about anxiety.  ;0)

Best of luck, please keep us in the loop!
