do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

A persons emotion is controlled by will. Hapiness is a choice. Instead of focusing on yourself and to others, which will just end up into depression, focus on the who God is. How he made the stars and the universe. How He loves you, that even if we are smaller than the smallest speck in the universe, He chose to love you and die for YOU.

You need to focus on the goodness of God, His character and begin to recount the various ways God still smiles upon you. He smiles when your smiling, He smiles when your chest rise up and fall down, when you are eating, when you are playing basketball... Like a father finds his satisfaction as he sees his child...nothing more, nothing less.

Pray this prayer from your heart:
"Lord, I know you are sovereign and in control of the universe. I also believe that you are greater than depression, and thank you for what you have done for me and for what you are going to do."

Jesus said, "cast your cares upon me, for i care for you."

Happiness is a choice. choose Jesus. =)

Choose to be free, Jesus can set you free!

Hey there,

I have had depression since I was 15 yrs old and when I turned 23ish I developed chronic headaches.  I have tried many anti-depressants but they all seem to make me feel worse.  I actually just made a post today about my illness.  If you find anything that works, please let me know.
Thanks!

Seems like you've been going through hard times these past 3 months.I can't give you a concrete medication to battle off your depression. but i believe what worked against my depression problem last year would surely help you.

After trying all these medications and therapies that only worked momentarily. A friend told me about Jesus. How He loves me and the beautiful, happy life He is offering to me. So i received His invitation to enter my life and gave Him the key to every room of my heart. I was hesitant at first but by His grace i continue on reading the bible, prayer and fellowship with those who also let Him in their hearts. after some time, my anxieties, depression and confusion dissolved. It was really a breakthrough from bondages of hopelessness, darkness and vanity.
I am now free to love and be loved, strong, happy and assured of the things to come.

Hope you'll find the light too. Jesus will do for you, what He's done for me. Because He loves you too and your value cannot be found on earthly things but at the foot of the cross.

A friend,
roxane =)

Perhaps make an appointment with your doctor.  Depression is a treatable condition.

I can only speak for myself regarding Welbutrin, (ok, and probably about a hundred other people that have tried it and said it didn't work for them either)

Welbuterin seems to be somewhat effective for individuals that suffer from very mild forms of depression. I have yet to talk to anyone suffering from Cronic Severe Depression and Anxiety that have found any benifit with Welbutrin no matter what the dosage.

In my case, even after 3 full months on Welbuterin I had not noticed any effect at all.

The active ingrediant in Welbutrine is (bupropion)
Bupropion works (or IMO doesn't work) only by inhibiting the Reuptake of Dopamine in the brain. This action is acually under reinvestigation by the FDA, Not because it's dangerous, (It's a very safe drug) but because it's actual ability to treat depression is in question.

In other words (at least for Clinical depression) it doesn't work nearly as good as what the origional clinical trials suggested. There is some evidence to support the fact that Welbuterin can be helpful for drug addicts that are going thru a detox program.
Some former drug users report that Welbutrin helps to take some of the edge off detox.

Who knows with that drug. Doctors also give it to patients to help them quit smoking.
In fact that's what Bupropion was actually first approved for by the FDA. To help smokers kick the habbit. Only then it was marketed as "Zyban," still is I think. Only problem is that it really doesn't help anyone quit smoking.

Welbutrine, Zyban, Buproprin...... All the same thing, no difference at all.
Maybe it helps some people, but for the people it does help, I have to wonder at what level or severity their depressive condition is.

It can't hurt for you to try it. It's side effects are about the same as a sugar pill. Unfortunatly it's theraputic effect on Cronic depression and anxiety are also about the same as a sugar pill.

Who knows maybe it will work for you. I just wouldn't get my hopes up about it.

You post caught my eye because I can totally relate to the headache issue as it relates to my depression.

My bad headaches are also brought on by my Depression. The worse my depression is, the worse my headaches are. This is especially true in the morning after waking up.

For me this is always a sure fire indicator that my meds are failing or starting to lose their effectivness. (if ANY doctor ever tells you that you can't build up resistance from long term SSRI usage....Don't believe it for a second) I have a list of thousands of sufferers like you and I that have build to resistance to prolonged use of SSRI's)

The two medications I have discovered to help with this issue are Effexor or the Tri-cyclic Nortriptilyne. These meds directly effect the Reuptake of Norephinepherine in the brain and do well to correct the headache problem.

Cymbalta is also a Selective Norephinephierine Reuptake Inhibitor like the others I listed above, but I just can't recomend taking Cymbalta because I have seen way to many bad reaction that people get from it. (myself included)

I trust Effexor because it does have a very high rate of success, (Yes it can be a bit harder to discontinue than other AD meds, but it's effectivness is well above avaerage)

The first thing you need to know before considering a "Norephinrpherine type medication" is the following:

(1.) Depression sufferers with normal to "high energy levels" are not good canditates for Effexor or the Tri-cyclic Nortriplilyne. (Nortriptaliyne unlike Effexor has a 6 hour window of mild sedation after it's taken. After this period of sedation the intended "energizing effect" takes place to knock out the depression during the day.) Nortriptaline MUST be taken before bed and never after. Effexor does not have this side effect and is usually better taken during the day time.

If you choose Effexor get the name brand Effexor XR (NOT THE GENERIC FORM) Only take the name brand because it is time relased and the Generic is not. Makes a huge difference.

Hold off on the Nortriptilyne, if the Effexor fails to produce a favorible response for you.
Tri-Cyclics like Nortrip are the big guns and better reserved if an SNRI like Effexor fails for you. (also: Nortriptilyne CAN NOT be taken With Effexor, But either Nortriptilyne or Effexor can be safely taken with an SSRI such as Prozac, paxil, or even Zoloft.

(2.) if yours is the kind if depression that absolutly exausts you, makes you very sleepy, foggy, tired, and worn out, then theres a very good chance that the vast majority of your depression is related to Norephinepherine. In which case the above drugs I mentioned can litterally transform your life and give you back the "normalcy" that we all crave.

Just give it time. The Norephineperine meds have a fairly long half life, which means that they can take as long as 8 weeks just to work and just as long to wash out of your system. It is also normal to feel like total garbage for the first 4 weeks taking them, but if you can fight thru that first 4 weeks, they can litterally put your depression and anxiety in almost a complete remissive state. (as long as you keep taking them of corse)

I bet if you can get this depression under control with the right meds that the Headaches will also fade. This has been my experience. Keep in mind that this plan does not work for Bi-polar depression. Most doctors don't prescribe Bi-polar patients Norephinephrine type AD's simply because they hit the Manic end of their condition too hard. For us Uni-polar folks it can work wonders.

Good luck.
