prozac or not

I have history of major depression year round, but it is much worse in the winter. I was able to stop taking my prozac this last summer, but now I'm considering getting back on it because my depression is interfering with my life. The only problem is that I'm also having alot of anxiety currently. As I recall the prozac can initially make anxiety worse. Has anyone experienced this same reaction when starting an antidepressive? My other option is Savella. My MD prefers the savella for me because I have been complaining of muscle and nerve pain. I tried the savella twice for about 2-3 weeks, but it seems to make me feel weird (I can't really explain the sensation, but I didn't like it). Has anyone had any experience with Savella for fibromyalgia or depression?  I know it is ultimatly my decision to take a med, but I would really like some input from others who have depression and may have tried these meds. Thanks

I've been using the xanax twice a day with the prozac and things aren't perfect, but are better. Thank God my DR. approved my xanax refill or I would be completely miserable and unable to sleep with the anxiety.
Thanks for your suport Hensley

Ahh yes, the Xanax can be a life saver to get you over the hump with that anxiety.

I use Xanax when I am changing AD meds because it helps so much with the anxiety.
Your like me, you get a lot of anxiety. I hate it so much.

Thanks for input on prozac. I remember that's why I liked the prozac cuz it does give me energy after about a week or two. I think I will try to go back on it since my depression causes me to be lower functioning which in turn causes me more depression. So, the added energy would really help and I do have a refill of low dose xanax that I could use to combat the increased anxiety that I usually get initially.
Thanks again Hensley258 :)

Prozac can be a very energizing antidepressant for some. This would probably explain why some people that start taking it say they are a bit more anxious than usual. Most of the time this effect will pass and it then can actually help with the anxiety.

I wish I could help you with the Savella. I know it is used for Fibromyalgia, but I have no direct experience with the drug. Perhaps another member knows more about it.
