I don't have the experience she has, but I have some optimism (perhaps I am just a wild guesser though) that there is some chance that you may just be going through what I will call an overreaction that professionals may be able to help.
I felt sick throughout my black period.
Stay open to all information you hear and try to find calm breaks in the day.
When I say doc, take LCC's advice and see the psychiatrist.
My family doc was good enough to be better than the problem and he and I were able to get me to where I was able to eventually escape from the anxiety issues. Seeing the family doc does not give the highest % chance of a solution, but may be the best place to start if it takes a while to get the psychiatrist appointment.
Depression and anxiety go hand in hand, and can be so complicated to deal with that inexperienced people like family members do not always provide reliable solutions. It is important to get help from a counsellor and doc asap as you are having a rough go.
If you get good professional help before the problem escalates, the chances are better of avoiding a large scale depression and possibly finding a solution that avoids meds. Deeper depressions can be harder to manage or reverse, and by that time meds are almost a requirement.
There are short term panic stop drugs and long term ones for people who are hit regularly with the problem.
But you need to see your doc again to describe the continued bad feelings that you are experiencing, as he will have experience determining the best solution to try. No one on this board is qualified to determine your best choice, but we can provide feedback from lots of experience.
My doc told me rigorous cardio exercise is proven to give relief equivalent to 2 Ativans (Ativan is a short term immediate relief med) in relieving stress, however I could never get any positive effect from it. Before my long term solution started working, I was on 3 to 4 Ativans per day, and sometimes found I could not complete my weightlifting workout without TAKING an Ativan. Often I was very panicky after a workout too. So I found exercise increased my Ativan use, but it is all so subjective that you have to treat my findings as unscientific and an uncontrolled study. I felt so horrid that I didn't want a vigorous cardio workout.
Maybe your doc can turn your hill jogging into a solution.
It sounds like, and I may be wrong that you may have depression with obsessive thoughts. Sometimes these go together. There is no instant cure, but you need to go to a psychiatrist to get the correct diagnosis. It doesn't sound like the garden variety depression. There are drugs and therapy that can help you immensely, but you need a referral to a pscydoc which is extremely important, keep in touch and know this will get better if you get the help you need,
all the best,
LCC
I have had these same symptoms before. My head started spinning, I thought I was going to die.
Its called mild panick attacks. Talk to your doctor, they can be caused by depression and stress. I was prescribed xanax...I still take it, and have never had a panick attack since. Hope I helped. Feel better:)
