Wellburtirn for Childern

My 9 year old daughter is on 300mg of wellburtin. Is this to much? Is anyone outhere on this med or know why a 9 year old 70 lb girl should be on such a high dose? She was on 150mg for about 6 months. The docto just increased it after she had a few behavioral issues. She has been doing great on it for 2 weeks. I'm just worried about longtern effects and the does amount?

I have to agree with the above post!  Wellbutrin is a stimulating antidepressant, and she's on an extremely high dose.  I don't know why she is on it, normally therapy is the best route to go at this age. Have they addressed the cause behind her issues or just masking them with medication? She's off to a bad start with being on medication so young, what is her diagnosis for having to take this? I would get a second opinion, somethings not right.  I wish you both all the best and take care.

300mg for a 70lb child seems like a lot!!  I'm a 34 year old adult, 105 lb and take 150 mg. Can't even imagine what 300 would do to me lol. I'd be worried about seizures. Also, this is a strong drug for depression I'm not sure if this is even suitable for children. I'd check with your pediatric doctor about this. Just my 2 cents ;)
