SSRI Withdrawel

Ok so i have been on lexapro 10mg for 2 1/2 yrs now since my daughter passed away, and i have decided to go off of it. I dont know what i was thinking but i just quit taking it a week ago today and now i cannot handle it anymore!! I feel like a total mess. I just took 5 mg of lexapro and want to continue to wean off of it..can you give me a game plan to wean?
Also i recently started taking adipex and want to know if there is a risk of serotonin syndrome taking both at the same time? I have read so many conflicting things about the two being taken together.
Thanks

Namaste,

Discontinuing a medication without the knowledge and consent of your doctor can de extremely dangerous and he/she should determine a proper schedule for withdrawal if appropriate, since you didn't state why you want to discontimue the medication.

As for your second issue, the answer is yes, taking Lexapro and Apipex concurrently can cause negative ineractive effects which only your doctor or pharmacist can determine, so speak to them about taking these medications together.

Again, don't try discontinuing any medication without the advice of a doctor. The adverse effects aren't worth it.

Cold turkey in SSRIs feels nasty (I've done it by accident). If you have a doctor monitoring your meds, go back to him or her and plan a slow weaning off process. Starting by halving your does on alternate days for a couple of weeks, then decreasing it a bit further is a good start point. If the weaning starts to give you withdrawal syndroms, then you should go back up and try to decrease it slowly.

I can't help with the serotonin syndrome, but again your doctor/chemist should be able to help you!

Best of luck with the weaning off!
