Well I just looked at your profile and I must say you are a very pretty girl. And Irish to boot. My best friend on here is Irish as am I. Us greenys have to stick together you know.

I would say that all these symtoms you speek of are all sighn of deppression. Yo also have a phobia about taking medication for it. Well let me just say that it is the medication that will help you and make you well again. I went through the same thinfg as most of us do but you have to think of it this way. You speek of suicide right,  so if the pills kill you (which they won't) you get what you want. But if they help you, you will be normal and all the heart flutters and ear pounding will stop over time. You have nothing to lose. These pills do not flip anyone out or do much harm at all. It takes a few weeks for them to even do anything. Take one pill and you will see that nothing happens. If this causes a panic attack don't blame the pill. The pill is you deppressions worst enimy. Panic is not real it is something you must talk to and tell it to get lost. You pray? Try it. It is like the pill, nothing at first but keep it up and it will help you. In the mean time don't hesitate taking ativan. I have been suffering panic and sever deppression for over 20 years now. Possibly my whole life. But now I know there is a way out. Take the med. Anything you feel that may scare you can not be the med, it is your panic talking. Do what ever works best for you. Cold water, rub the neck for heart flutter. ( a big sign of panic dissorder. If it continues and the doc says your fine you can ask for Atenenol 25mgs should do it. It will stop the flutters and is a safe and very healthy drug to take. It works.
Ask me anything you like, maybe me and my good irish friend and yourself could start an Irish forum here, lol. ANd what is the drug you are hesatant to take? We can go over it.

Call if you will,
Jeff :)

Hi Cathy,

How are you feeling today?
Dealing with anxiety and panic is tiring. It is maybe difficult to find that little extra in many occassions - such as smiling at a joke (good, silly or just incredibly lame) or taking part of the fun along with the kids. To stop the anxiety seems impossible, and it does affect moods.

Some antidepressants have also got an anti-anxiety effect, maybe that is the core idea of the prescription? Medicines are prescribed on background of your core ailment, family history and other information the physician has about you. Either how, you don't know exactly how they'll work in you if you don't try them.

What other coping techniques have you got for the anxiety/panic? Have you tried to exercise? One of the greatest things about exercising is that you notice your body works better - you sweat out those things that make your skin unclean, you rid yourself of muscle tensions and you get more alert and "fit for fight". It is also a great opportunity to let stress be stress and chill out. Maybe it had been something for you? It doesn't have to be something that you do for hours every day, but half an hour 3 days a week is enough to notice a good difference. One would really think that one would get more exhausted but it actually gives more energy and a great sense of accomplishment.

Good luck and let us know how your'e doing!
