Hi. It does take 4-6 weeks for these types of medications to reach a therapeutic level in your system. If at this point you aren't feeling a whole lot better, call your doctor because it is normally at this point they need to increase our dosage. They will start us out on a low dosage and go up if need be. Give it a couple of more weeks and if no better, call your doctor. Take care!
thanks for the response, yeah i might get my dose increased, i am just afraid it will stop working again and i will have to withdrawal from a higher dose.
Hi, upping the dose may solve your problem. You have to understand anti-depressants are not a permament fix, it could be a year , could be a few years, it will eventually stop working and you will be switched to a different drug if your depression persists. Its the nature of the beast. From what I understand 50% of patients who take a course of anti-depressants will have to take them for a lifetime.
You may at some point want to try alternative methods such as 5htp or possibly SAM-E. Personally, I had terrible side affects with both, but they may work for you.
Good luck and God bless.
thanks for the comment. yeah i took some 5 htp and my mood drastically improved.
