change of make of drug

hi I am new to this site. I have had depression for around 5 years now and been on venlafaxine for nearly 4 of them. I have been upto 300mg and then dropped to 225mg 150mg in am then 25mg as doctor prescribed. These were all on effexor. had a letter earlier in the year saying the drug is being changed from capsule to tablet but is exactly the same. i am taking viepax xl. before i was on effexor modified release. weather its a coinsidence or not but i feel as though i am going down hill and recently hit the bottom of the pit partly i think its due to life circumstances. but I am not convinced plus my doc says your on max dosage when clearly i have been on higher before. Ontop of all this i have found true love last year and now all those lovely feelings have been diminishing

thankyou for that i am in uk as well. i will request to go back on effexor.

Same happened to me.  My doctor put me on Viepax, after I had been on Effexor.  They say it is the same.  I saw another doctor in the same practice, and he put me back on Effexor.  You can do the same.  You just ask doctor to change your prescription.

I feel so much better on Effexor.  It may be the same, perhaps it is our minds telling us it is not so good, even so, the feelings are there, that is not working as well as Effexor.

I was told b y other doctor there is little difference in the price of Viepax and Effexor, so money not the reason.  I don't know if you are in USA or another country.  I am in  UK, and I will stay on 150mg Effexor now.
