help with celexa

Hey everybody.  I just started taking Celexa about a week and a half ago and yesterday started with some side effects.  Talk to doc and he said to not take it last night 12/27 and see how I feel.  Needless to say I feel some better.  But he wants me to take it tonight to see if the side effects come back.  I'm alittle worried.  I don't want to feel like I did yesterday.  Another thing I feel those brain zaps that everyone is talking about when I don't take my SSRI's.  But I think they make me feel lightheaded and dizzy.  Also I have been diagnosised with hypothryoidism.  Doc is suggesting maybe cymbalta or effexor any suggestions?

He had RSV and broncheolitis (sp). On top of all that my 4 year old got scarlett fever and my mom has been sick.  And she was the one caring for the my other two boys while I was with the baby.  It sure has been a tring time.  The new year just didn't start off the way I would have liked it.  But I got to keep my head up or I'll end up in the hospital myself and that is just not an option right now.

My shrink suggested Prozac but I haven't  been able to start taking it yet.  My 7 month old just got out of the hospital after a 5 day stay.  I haven't had time to take care of myself.

i'm surprised that the symptoms from the celexa would begin right away...and that they would make you feel that horrible.  will your doctor try something else?

this is how my psychiatrist explained things to me:  i started out w/ effexor then went to cymbalta and then wellbutrin.  i had an inexperienced doctor give me the effexor and cymbalta.  my new psych said that usually they would start someone on something more mild than eff/cym.  this may be why your doc gave the celexa to begin with.  i know eff/cym are in the same "family" of meds...and celexa and lexapro are their own "family."  celexa didn't work out for me, but i switched to lexapro and it is working wonders.

Some of the side effects included feeling like I had the flu, aches and pains all over, zombie like, the list could go on and on.  I've taken it one time since I posted last and I felt pretty bad.  The doc said that the Celexa was most certainly causing my problems. So I haven't taken it.  Tonight I decided to take 12.5mg of Zoloft just to stop the brain zap things.  Do you know much about SSRI's?  Could they cause the dizzyness or do you think it has to do with my thyroid or both? What do you know about Cymbalta, Wellbutrin or Effexor?  One other thing once I do get everything in my life strainghtened out how to I wean myself off of Klonopin.  I've taken half of a .5mg tablet twice a day now for almost 2 months.  Check the thyroid page for updates on that.  Thanks in advance.  Jessi

WEel if the celexa is making you feel bad you could try something els but a week on it isnt very long as it takes4- 6 weeks for it to kick in. what are some of your side effects?
How is the hypo dx going . did they increase your meds?I strongly suspect once your tsh levelsout that your depression will dissapear..Keep me posted .
