medication

Hi, does anyone know i you can take Amitriptyline and Sertraline at the same time. I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.  Thanks in advance Sharon

Yes, they can and are often combined and prescribed in tandem by many doctors. I used to take Nortriptilyne and Lexapro in tandem as prescribed.

Thanks for your comments.  Will run it past gp in morning I didn't think about it when she said it this afternoon, must have gone over my head. Thanks also for your last comment, I am getting better each day I am told so hopefully will carry on this way.

i believe so i'm on an old tryclic a d like amitripiline and on an ssri Prozac ( sertraline is another SSRI type drug i believe) as well in order to augment the treatment, both prescribed by my GP. This should be something you run by them but using the similiar logic for me you'd think that it would think it sounds fine.  Sorry to hear about your recent health problems
