need advice

I posted on the teen depression but didn't seem to get any answers. I'm 16 and convinced that I have depression. I constantly feel unhappy, I am not interested in life anymore and sometimes I don't even want to wake up in the mornings. I have felt like this for months! I'm really scared to talk to anybody about this because I'm worried about what they might say or think. I find it really difficult to talk to family or friends about my problems so I don't really know what to do about it? I feel so weak and worthless!

I usually do tell people to try the teen depression forum but I don't go there myself so I don't know how much support is available on there.  Either way welcome to the forum.  Opening up about depression is a difficult thing.  It took me a while to talk to people about me being bipolar because I thought people would think I'm crazy and some people actually do, whatever.  If you were younger I would say it is part of growing up.  However at sixteen and depressed like this, I would definitely start opening up and start working on getting some care.  I can't diagnose you but I can say that a lot of mood disorders become onset around 15-25.  Does it mean your crazy...no.  If I noticed the signs of my depression earlier, I may not be as unstable as I am now.  I just assumed that I was like everyone else.  Anyway this is based on the little information that you felt comfortable sharing with us and it is just information not a diagnosis.  You will find support on this forum so keep coming back.

Hi....it's imperative that you let one or both of your parents know how you're feeling as it does sound like you have some depression going on.  We hear from so many teens so know you're not alone with this.  Nobody is going to judge you, your parents love you and would want to know about this.  Often therapy is all we need to get beyond our depression, sometimes we need medication as well.  Please talk to your parents so that you can get help...you'd be surprised at how many teen are going through the same thing.  Stop thinking you're "worthless" that's not true and it only makes you feel worse.  Also, journal your thoughts and feelings, it's a form of release for us and is very therapeutic even if we just toss the notes away.  You can't help how you're feeling and that's why we have the specialists to help us.  I hope this helps and do speak to your mom, dad or both.  It's going to be okay...big hugs to you.

Hi Elliex, you really need to talk to to someone on a one to one talk. Do you have a spiritual person in your life like a pastor, rabbi, priest or a school counselor?

Life can be confusing for any age person. My mother is  90 and constantly looking back to what could have been.

One thing that i have learned is that we do attract what we think. If you constantly think that your depressed, then you will attract all that is depressing. If you train your mind to think positive things then positive things will come your way.
You have a lot of energy and no where to spend it. You should take up some hobbies like maybe kungfu to strengthen your body and mind.
You are all you have in this life and its up to you to take care of yourself.
Sometimes we take up negative things about ourself to give us an identity as worry and fretting is a very personal thing and brings reality to self realization.
