Hi, I am like you, I get very negative with my thoughts. My doctor told me that meds only do about 30% of the work, we have to do the rest. It is tough, and there are times that I want to quit, but by forcing myself to look on the bright side of things I have done a lot better. I also talk to my therapist to help me gain more tools. Just know that you are not alone...and know that you can control your thoughts!

I dont know how you can be the most negative person out there.  There are so many negative people.  It drives me crazy how many negative miserable people are out there.  You are not alone.

Gran, telling someone who has Depression they shouldn't feel critical, negative, low, or depressed is like telling a diabetic they shouldn't have high blood sugar. It doesn't help or change how we feel.

i don't judge people at all. for example i will go out to eat and just about everytime my eggs will be way under cooked. ( snotty whites ).  just about every place i go i have something bad to say about service or how filthy the store or restraunt is. maybe i just have bad luck. i work at it all the time to be a positve thinker. i may have been put down to many times and made fun of by alot of people that may have caused low self esteem. my parents were always putting me down for never being good at anything or just not smart like my dad is. i am on here to get answers not to be put down.

why would you judge others and think negative of yourself...there is so much going on in the world..you shouldnt feel like that...you shouldnt make your wife a part of your unhappiness...the most bueatiful person can be the uglyiest...bueaty comes from the inside..not from the outside...if you choose to have negative comments it will show in your face...how will you feel if your doctor judged you?  you should be glad that your wife told you that...I hope that you take her advise and dont be so judgemental towards others...the person you will be quick to judge one day might save your life one day...

I know I am the same way. I try to look on the bright side as well but isn't as easy as it sounds. Thats all we can do is to keep trying. Like stephenssusie10 said the meds do some of the work but most of it is on us to try to be more positive even if it is hard.
