My 18 year old son gets angry easily now and cries frantically

my teenager (18) suddenly breaks down and cries and says "he can't tell us why"  he now sees a counselor and is on prozac, however he still breaks down and cries so hard he pukes. Legally the counselor cannot tell us anything.  What is going on?

Is the counselor a psychologist or something less than that?  It sounds like he's very depressed, but to get a proper diagnosis and therefore proper medication he needs to be seeing someone who has the credentials to do that.  And if he's still this bad off and has been on the Prozac for awhile, it's not the right med for him as it's clearly not working.

And I guess I'd add, do you not have good communications with him?  Have you asked him what might have happened in his life to set this off, or is he not talking?

Is it possible your son is confused about his sexual orientation ? I say this because a teen I parented in foster care had similar behaviours and this was eventually found to be the cause of his distress.

She didn't say anything about his potential causes, and that is just one of many possibilities so we need more info.
