the best antidepressent or help

firstly thankyou to anyone who takes the time to look at this. I just wanted to ask if anyone could tell me if antidepressants (especially prozac) really help and if anybody has had some personal success. I've been depressed for 2 years now but only just have been told and realised it's depression. I've been so angry, anti-social and have not the capability to be who I am nor be the good person I want to be. I thought I was going crazy or something and was disappointed when I didnt feel normal after medication for Hashimotos which i also thought could of been the problem. I feel alone but I don't want anyone to help me because i feel a burden. I've seen a psychologist a few times but he theres no progress. I feel like time is just going by so quick and I'm wasting it; especially as it is my teen years I am failing in my education as well as socially and I feel as though I have no control. i want to feel normal again but wouldnt medication just cover the problem rather than get me back to normal?

I also feel that i may be suffering from a milder depression and do not know how to bring it up to my mother...

But really i just want to wish you luck on finding a solution to your problem and would ask that if you do, could you give me some advice on things that helped you, being that i too am a teenager.

I have had great success with antidepressants. I can lead a normal life now without crying all the time or getting extremely angry. I can focus better at work and lead a normal life. Medication can actually help your brain. As soon as I started taking medicine for depression, I felt better. So maybe it's a chemical thing. You should check with your doctor to see if they can help, if possible.

You should always talk to your doctor about depression because depression isn't something we can help.  There are several reasons for depression:
The causes of depression are not fully known.
Most likely a combination of genetic, biologic, and environmental factors are at work.

I was on Prozac and it really helped me...I have gone off of them and I am very depressed so I'm going back to my doctor so he can help me with this.  What works on one person may not work on another that is why it is so important for you to be under doctors care so if one don't work they will find the one to work with your chemical imbalance or what ever is wrong. Remember there is always hope. ALWAYS.
I know what you mean about feeling normal.  I really hope you go to your doctor and explain everything to him/her.
Take care,
Dee
