thank you, yes i have never been on anti depressants before but life has really thrown some crazy stuff at me that i can't do on my own. i'm already in therapy but i think i just need something extra to weather the storm in my mind. thank you all for your replies! i already started my first dose. here's to feeling better. :)
I was on Zoloft for several years with no weight gain. It will take up to 6 weeks for your medication to reach therapeutic level, so be patient. It is normally at this time your doctor will want to see you to see how the medication is working, and if need be, this is when they may need to tweak your dosage. Don't be nervous, you will feel better on the medication. You need to look at depression as any other illness, and you wouldn't think twice about taking medication for something like the flu, and this is no different. Things happen that are too much for us to handle on our own, and it sounds like you've had your share. I do hope you start feeling better, medication gave me my life back.

Hi, welcome. There have been lots of postings about weight gain on various anti-depressant medications.
You might like to look up past postings, which may help.
Sorry you are feeling low. Hope the medication helps.
Correction: Zoloft is a SSRI with no significant weight gains observed, which is rare with SSRIs.
Zoloft is a rare SSRI not with no significant weight gains observed. I don't think the drug should cause weight gain in your case unless you modify your lifestyle habits to prone weight gain. Everyone is different tho, it is an unlikely possibility that you will experience weight gain on Zoloft.
