You can look at my other posts they may help you. zoloft will cause insomnia and I myself could not put up with it. karen is correct you should gradually feel better after several weeks but..........I firmly beleive that side effects should be minimal. I think if the SSRi is correct the effect at first will be placebo like, you will feel nothing then gradually feel better.
If you are experiencing a speedy effect or jittery effect or anxiety, I think it is the wrong med for your system and would ask the doc to stop and switch. If the doc WHINES you may want to switch that too. this has been my experience, we must take ownership of which med is correct, and we determine what side effects are normal, the doctors are busy and spread thin.
I think that with thcorrect med you will feel NO side effects and then after about a month....hey I feel better, I am not as angry blah blah. good luck to you.

When i first started treating my depression for the first time, with medicine, it actually took almost 3 months for me to really notice that I was generally happier, did not feel overwhelmed by daily tasks like dish washing/laundry, and i could enjoy things in life again like listening to music and a hobby.
Usually for 1st time depression treatment it takes sometimes 3 or 4 different trials of medicines to see which one works for the individual. If you have been on medicines before for depression, perhaps you will have a different result.
Just telling you what happened to me to hopefully encourage you to continue on. I was a lucky one, the first medicine tried was the correct one. Still, it seems a bit of a guessing game to see which drug is the right one for the person.
