18 month old daughter with vitilogo

My daughter was diagnosed yesterday with vitilgo she was prescribed two creams one I haven't gotten yet because it's 500 dollars and my insurance won't cover it. The other is called desonide which I read only helps reduce redness and swelling. I now feel like I am seeing the signs of white spots in other places. Should I put the cream in those areas as well? I'm also wondering if I have the same condition as her. I have darker skin on half of my body it's as if I have to much pigment and she doesn't have enough. Is  hyper and hypopigmentation both correlated to vitligo? I would just like some help trying to figure out how to contain my daughters condition. I'm terrified.
