A bumpy rash on my arms.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what exactly this is. I have a bumpy and kind of dry skin rash on both my arms and i've already checked to see if it was ring worm but its not. It has spread a little but then it goes away, but not completely. I know its not eczema but it has really made me self-conscious. I don't know what this is and i really can't afford to go to a doctor. If anyone can help me in anyway i would really appreciate it. Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
HI,

To determine the diagnosis, direct clinical examination is important. However, this could be keratosis pilaris, which is a very common condition in which there are numerous rough follicular spots on the outer aspect of the upper arms, thighs and cheeks, and less often on the forearms and upper back. It tends to be more severe during the winter or when humidity is low. It is genetic in origin but the precise cause has not yet been determined.  Moisturizing regularly is important. If it persists, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper managemnt. Topical retinoids or pulse dye laser treatment may be indicated. Take care and regards.
