Armpits itchy for over a month?

So it started about 6 weeks ago, i didn't have a razor to shave my armpit hair, and I sweated so it became itchy and irritated. I took showers every other day for about a week, until I shaved, but after I shaved my skin was red and irritated and very dry, and still itchy. I would itch until it would burn and bleed almost, I tried using creams also, but they all burn or don't work. A about 3 weeks I haven't itches so much, so the skin is not red, and I shave regularly in that area, but it is still itchy to no end. Does anyone know what to do?

Have you tried switching your deodorant to see if that helps?  It may help to relieve the irritation a bit if you try that.
