Biopsy Report and Prognosis

Hello,

I recently had a mole removed from the upper right part of my back and the biopsy revealed "atypical cells." I'm not able to understand the medical jargon within the report so I wanted to copy and paste it here an see if I could get a second opinion.

DIAGNOSIS: Right Back Compound Melanocytic Nevus with Moderate Atypia

Note: The margin is involved. The diagnosis is rendered with the assumption that this does not represent a partial biopsy of a significantly larger lesion.

CLINICAL IMPRESSION PROVIDED TO LABORATORY: CMN vs atypical nevus

GROSS DESCRIPTION: 9x8x1 mm bisected

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION: Sections show a proliferation of melanocytes at the dermal-epidermal  junction and within the papillary dermis. The junctional melanocytes are present predominantly at the sides and bases of rete ridges. There is a focal confluence of nests and lateral extension of the junctional component. There is cytologic atypia. In the papillary dermis are lymphocytes, concentric and lamellar fibroplasia, and melanocyte that show evidence of maturation.

Based on this diagnosis, do you believe that an additional incision is required? I am scheduled to have surgery on August 5th that will require stitches and at least two weeks of recovery. I just want to be sure that this is the correct protocol.
