CHRONIC RED PEELING LIPS

I HAVE LIVED WITH PROBLEM CRACKED RED DRY LIPS SINCE CHILDHOOD HOWEVER BECAUSE OF POOR MEDICAL SERVICES IN MY COUNTRY, I HAVE NEVER SOUGHT TREATMENT UNTILL NOW. WHEN I WAS STILL YOUNG AT ABOUT 18 YEARS OF AGE, MY LIPS WOULD CRACK AND EVEN BLEED WITH ALOT OF PAIN IN THE CRACKS. AS I GREW UP, THIS HARD CRACKING REDUCED BECAUSE I COULD CHEW THEM ALMOST ALL THE TIME. AT THE MOMMENT MY LIPS ARE RED WITH SCAR LIKE SPOTS ON THE LOWER LIP THAT MAKES ME VERY UNCONRFOTABLE TO EVEN SPEAK TO PEOPLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS DISTURBED ME A LOT AND I NEED IMMEDIATE HELP FROM WHOEVER CAN.
THANKS
MUKWE

I had the same problem for 7 years. I tried every kind of lip balm, salve oil etc. etc., searched the web for a reason or cure with no luck.   I Discovered quite by accident finally what was causing it. Last new years I went on a health diet, replaced all white bread & cereal etc with Whole Wheat products. Within 3 weeks of my new diet, my lips were the worst the've ever been in my life. The only change I could think of was all the Whole Wheat I'd been eating lately. I immediately cut out whole wheat to see if that would help because I was in desperate pain, and guess what? Within 2 weeks of cutting out the whole wheat, my lips were not only feeling better, but they were actually getting back to normal. My lips haven't been "normal" in 7 years. 6 weeks later and there are days when I dont even put on any balm now and that was unthinkable before. Apparently I had been living with a Wheat intolerance and had no clue. I don't know if this would work for you, but maybe give it a try, and good luck.

Hello,
The symptoms are suggestive of cheilitis. Firstly, It can be due to vit B deficiency. Take some vitamin B complex for some days and see if your symptoms improve.
Secondly, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema. Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis. Avoid licking the lips as saliva evaporates quickly resulting in them being drier than before. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter or Vaseline on your lips.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

This can b due to a vitamin deficiency, I have the same problem( still do!). Ucan keep Vaseline on them, its cheap and a GREAT moisturizer/hydra tor. Also take a multivitamin once a day. Another thing u can do is wen ur in the shower take a soft toothbrush and lightly brush ur lips to exfoliate them. I kno it sounds crazy, but Im tellin u from experience, it works great!!!.
