Can one suddenly develop a sun allergy, or what does this sound like?

I'm Male 32 years old, I've never had any problem with sun exposure in the past, except when I was 5 I had one case of sun poisoning from staying out to long.

I just started walking for exercise again, last week around 4PM I went for my walk and I noticed my arm was burning and itching after being outside for no more then 10 minutes. I looked down and from the cuff of my shirt to my wrist on my under arm I was covered in hives/welts. I immediately headed home and withing in minutes of being indoors they subsided. I been trying to avoid going in direct sun since that day.

Today I had to run to the market around 1:30ish PM, a few minutes after getting into my car I immediately felt the same sensation as the other day, I looked at my right arm and it was covered in hives deep red. I didn't notice my left arm having much if anything.

I can't get a picture of it as it seems to subside as soon as I get indoors.

About me/my lifestyle... I do not take any meds, I don't smoke, drink, never did drugs. The only thing I currently take is a natural Beta Carotene supplment daily 25,000 IU. I have asthma (the beta carotene helps this condition)
I have numerous allergies I avoid anything with a scent/and harsh of chemicals. I use Seventh Generation scent free soap for my clothes, and I use scent free olive Oil or Dr Bronners soap to shower with. I use a salt rock for deodorant, and do not wear cologne . I only wear cotton clothing, no man made fibers  I do seem to have allot of allergies, and in the last couple years they have gotten worse, I've developed digestive disorders and speaking to my parents recently dad was saying that it sounds allot like when my mom developed an autoimmune disorder, They been trying to diagnose her for years. She may have Lupus, or something similar, she has been diagnosed so for with Hasiomoto's disorder (thyroid has completely stopped functioning)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... I know I really should seek out a dermo but I'm currently unemployed and do not have any insurance, nor the money to seek one out.

Hi, I just came across your question in search if something else and decided to answer because this happened to me. Yes you can suddenly develop an allergy to the sun. It is most likely related to an autoimmune disorder. I started with vitiligo which is an autoimmune disorder and oh about 12 years later the thing with the sun started. it was minor and just  kept getting worse. Finally I would get blisters and welts on my face, neck, arms upper chest. Recently the itching and fine rash has begun on my legs.
Since the thing with the sun I have been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia. I wear spf 100 sunscreen and a straw hat and arm warmers when I go out into the spring summer and fall sun. Winter doesnt bother me yet but the meds I take for my lupus disallow lots of sun exposure.

Also with the missing sun I need extra vitamin D. My levels were horribly low.
I too have allergies but I dont think they are related to the sun issue as mine are pretty much medicinal allergies.

Lupus can run in families so you prob should be getting checked.
