Crawling/ itching feeling under skin

Please help me..  I have started feeling like there is something crawling under my skin..  I first felt it on my arms now my face around my lips and eyebrows.  I have started pulling my eyebrows out and when I look at the tips I see a clear hard buildup of some sort.

My back itches/ feels like something is crawling on my legs, face and arms.

Its like something is under my skin and attaches to my hair and forms a mass on each strand of hair....

I dont know what is wrong but please help me...

I drink bottles of Benadryl to try to stop the itching and crawing feeling but it does not last long....

Hello! One of the reasons it feels as though ur skin is itchy. It’s the Benadryl, taking excessive amounts is dangerous, slow down cus it will be a terrible fight n the uncomfortably the worse. Research Benadryl. Are u having other symptoms? Memory loss? Dry skin? Do u take more than one? DPH can be dangerous n sometimes causes brain damage. Be careful. People hallucinate and everything from Benadryl. Hope this helps

It is a fungus parasite ... If you have bumps on your scalp and they hurt ... They take over your entire body.  If any one wants to contact Dr.Phil in Los Angeles with me it's my last hope of finding a cure for these horrible things... you can leave me a message on here under my profile... Good luck everyone.

That small knat looking thing could be a Morgellons fiber
You're right, it's s fungus and the tiny bugs are fungus feeders, so you'll have bugs, too. I'm under a doctor's care, but, that's not what healed me. It's a multiple problem, with a multiple approach. It took me one and a half years to beat it. Message me on email, I'll never find this discussion again, I'm lost on this forum, sorry! Good luck! Follow mould protocols to get it out of your home and car to even have a chance to rid your body of it.
Can you please message me exactly what you had to do to get rid of this stuff cuz I've had it for 6 years and I'm never able to get it to go away please help me???

Unfortunately it is Demodex - a tiny mite that lives on skin and eyelashes.  Sometimes they get out of control due to infection etc.  Try tea tree oil.
Best of luck!

Change your bedsheets, pillowcases and quilts. Mine stopped after that. Moved from one house to another and it had continued till I changed bedsheets and covers. It's dust mites or some microscopic bugs that are causing an allergic reaction to your body.

Let me know if this helps!

Some of  have what is called Morgellons disease, a disease the CDC despite numerous presented evidence and proof from various medical and scientific experts, will declare it as a case of delusional parasitosis , this is indeed not the case in many of these cases, researching this further you will then begin to see this Morgellons  reported by what society would call " addicts" but if you get past those results then you will see this is a epidemic that effects all living organisms, animal, plant, insect, human, its a nasty bug that im afraid isnt easy to be rid of then once your able to manage riding it, your not guaranteed to not be reinfected, i know this because i have had it for 6 months approximately, i am not here to push an agenda nor am i here to scare, i am here to answer a question asked and i have given you my answer based on my symptoms that are similiar to others here, as for a cure or remedy, for the itching use gold bonds powder or even better baking soda, to try and rid myself of this nightmare i am using collidal silver , apple cider vinegar with mother earth, and baking soda, alkaline state body not highly acidic and diet is said to rid the ' parasite" from your body,

This affliction can be overwhelming mentally with the physical, hang in there, dont pick at your skin, you can cause it to spread all over yourself faster then it already is. shower two three times a day to help remove bio film associated with this and keep dry, humidity doesnt help, there are answers out there and lots of us suffers discovered methods thru trial and error, you will eventually find what works for you, but have no set regiment, what works today sometimes dont work tomorrow so have a little arsenal of recommended combat components on deck, and stay away from all GMO.

Hope this helps.

Just a girl who was hit with a dose of bad luck.

I had the same thing it's healing now. I had it for about a year. It was a skin infection under the first layer of skin. It was in that middle tissue area it attached to my hair and muscles at the end when I realized it wasn't acne. I was on 2 different antibiotics for almost 3 months now. I think when you feel super crawly and itchy is when it took a long time to develop so just be patient but the antibiotics wasn't the only thing that helped I am 100% sure that if you don't try to also keep your skin on the outside disinfected it doesn't kill it enough to get it to start healing. I used a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide a little salicylic acid and also apple cider vinegar mixed with water in a spray bottle once a day before taking shower to break up the bacteria in the back of my neck hairs and behind my ears and eyebrows. I'm pretty sure I had Staph and some other kind of stubborn bacteria forming nodules and boils with my hair first and was hiding in Nasal cavity. It was a sucker for sure I also used a lot of tree tree oil and triple antibiotic ointment on raw areas and inside my nose too (were it likes to hide) I also got an ear infection during the Process of it and had to get an antibiotic injection because of the pain at one point during the process at the hospital because the bacteria localized behind my right ear at one point. It's stubborn it will die eventually just keep up on antibiotics and hygiene. It's a slow horrendously uncomfortable healing process. Weird shut will come out of your skin. Necrotic tissue looks nuts and can look like dandelion flower fibers that u blow in the wind to crazy stringy blue and red and white fibers. Bit chill out this is normal. U probably with it like me for a few years before u noticed it taking over the healing isn't going to be any quicker stay Patient have piece relax eat well and keep up on medicine and antibiotics and it will go away. Hope this helps. -jenneen
I've had the same thing,, this is a FUNGUS.

I have been dealing with itching under my skin for several years.  Usually just my hands and feat and only at night time after winding down from a long day.  I went to my own Dr for fatigue and dizziness and my Kidneys are acting up a little creatinine is 124 GFR 47 I believe.  Dr was worried I may be dehydrated so asked me to drink more fluids,  My itching is not even tolerable now and it is all day and my entire body itches,   I feel like jumping out of my skin.  I have tried allergy pills and flonase which she prescribed but it is doing nothing for this severe itching.  Any thoughts?

I'm having the same symptoms as most of those who have commented. Coincidentally, some have mentioned specific similarities to my case that I have found extremely relevant resulting in "ah-ha" moments. First, helpedhappy mentioned "spreaders". I've come to call them "runners". I will pick at one of the small lesions that I swear is some sort of very small cyst, or nest, or bite. I half expect a small, ugly insect to come barreling out. I will squeeze the area like a pimple, or pick at the scab I created from the squeezing. Then, almost immediately, somewhere else on my body will feel like it's been "bitten", or something comes shooting out of my skin, and an "exit" wound will appear. This is because it feels like if I squeeze hard enough in one area, a very strong, brittle, tiny "pine-needle-like-thing" will travel, or run, very quickly under my skin and emerge, shooting up and out of my skin, making a new bump. Or, for example, the thumb that I use to squeeze this bump, will suddenly have "skid marks" where "it" leaped from the bump I'm squeezing, to the fleshy part of my thumb, make small skidding, red lesions on top of, or just under the skin, that look like the lines on the highway where you can pass another car like this "- - - - - - - - -", coming to an abrupt stop and either making another red bump, or running into my thumb nail and literally cracking it, then disappearing under the nail. Or, I'll squeeze a bump on my arm, and something, invisible to the naked eye, will leap forth with the force of the squeeze, and land on my leg, making new skid marks, or a new lesion, or bump. Is this descriptive enough?
I also can empathize with the individual the mentioned slivers of metal. Originally, I had the taste of metal in my mouth almost constantly. Food tasted like metal, and I smelled a strong metallic smell in my home. Then I began to squeeze a place on my face where I lost an old metal filling because I believed a price of this metal got lodged in the interior of my mouth. The metallic smell and taste eventually passed, but the bumps kept emerging all over my body. I feel a lot of small lumps under the skin of the arch of my right foot. When I squeeze them, they itch terribly, but the skin is too thick to allow them emerge, but I can feel something "run" under the skin.
Gravity seems to play a role, as well. I started trying to pop what I thought was a sliver of metal lodged in my cheek from an old filling, and a bump under my lip area that I thought was an ingrown hair. The "runners" definitely travelled south through my body, and down towards my feet. They seem to get "thicker" towards my lower extremities, probably because it picks up more tissue the farther they travel. I have "skid marks" in many areas (a dark red line of them ending in another bump under my right breast, and the fleshy area of my left arm), and new bumps. These bumps, when broken open, are empty, small holes that sometimes bleed, but at that point are empty because whatever was there, "ran", or "leaped", away. As a result, I look like a "picker" (which I guess I am at this point), and have small, red, open, or scabbed bumps all over me. They are disgusting, and very unattractive.
I have terrible circulation due to a heart condition. I've also had a staff infection in my blood due to endocarditis. About 15 years ago I was in a domestically violent relationship and under terrible, daily stress. I was also addicted to drugs (thankfully, I've been clean for 14 years). This was my first "episode" of this terrible affiction. During this time, I would squeeze "invisible" bumps on my skin because of what I thought was due to the drug use and daily trauma. One night I squeezed an area on my face so much that I developed a bump the size of a baseball on my cheek. I went to the ER and they had no idea what it was, but lanced it, and discovered 5 pockets of pus that they excitedly squeezed out (really....there was 3 nurses and a doctor and laughed and joked that they always "loved popping my bf's zits", and their idea of a perfect date was popping the pimples on a 16-year old McDonalds worker), gobs of gook. Eventually they sewed my up and it healed. However, I've always had this very small hard spot on my cheek, like a cyst, near that area that I still try to pop. This is another "original" bump. Anyhow, I'm clean and sober, but going through another traumatic time in my life. I have very bad circulation due to endocarditis and a subsequent valve replacement. I had many metal fillings as a child, many of which have splintered and fallen out. I've never had lice, or bed bugs, or even a tick. I've never had herpes or shingles.
My doctor believes I have a type of OCD, that causes me to pick due my current trauma. She can't explain the "runners", or "leapers", and although she is kind, but she thinks I'm a bit looney. These are some similar symptoms, my concurrent health issues, and one diagnosis. I know we are not crazy and definitely have something going on. My episode 15 years ago did end, and did not come back until 2 months ago (kind of like a herpes outbreak, right?). Now, I have bumps and scabs all over me to the extent that I am too embarrassed to leave my house. I also know that once I start picking at these bumps, I have a difficult time stopping. It makes the itching, and feeling like I'm being bit by some sort of bug, much worse. It keeps me from sleeping, eating, or doing anything else. It is compulsive, so the OCD thing doesn't seem too far off. I feel like I have to find whatever it is (an infection, an ingrown hair, a bug, or whatever) that is causing the problem. I have to force myself to stop by getting my mind completely occupied on something else (like writing this), or eventually falling a sleep from exhaustion. I bleed all the time from picking and have gone through tons of band-aids. I always itch. I have discovered it's the red lines on my skin that run vertically, that itch; and the new bumps, or "bites", that cause the itching. I believe the vertical red lines are the "pathways" that the runners take when they are close to the top of my skin.
Jeez..I even think I sound crazy when I read this back. However, I know better. I'm not crazy. We can't blame the medical community for not knowing what's wrong with us because i think what we have is pretty rare. I'd rather have a doctor that says they don't know, then guessing and treating me with drugs I don't need. However, I can't shake the feeling that some doctors do know what this is and we either haven't found them, or maybe we have, and they just don't want to admit it's happening. Whatever it is, it's pretty gross, scary, and possibly contagious. However, this is my second episode in 15 years, so it seems whatever it is, it can go into remission. I just hope it's not an epidemic, or the sign of some rare, fatal disease.
It's obviously been very difficult for us to find a doctor who knows what's going on. I bet many more people have the same problem but are just too freaked out, embarrassed, or scared, to take about it to anyone....including their doctors. I'm very glad that we are all opening up and discussing this. I hope everyone will keep checking back with their experiences, or report any new information. It will help us all.

You have been through a lot.  As I shall probably not recheck this sight, I just wanted to add, your symptoms are not rare, but many types of 'viruses' and bacterial of some sort or another do match your symptoms.  You are not crazy and it isn't in your head...well it may be literally physically in your head, but not crazy like.  Seriously, it would be wise to be thoroughly tested for Lyme and all co-infections.  There are other things, I'm sure going on as well...but those go hand in hand with a lot of 'others'.  You can make it!  You can defeat this issue/attack of these things hosting in your body...do not give up!   And congratulations on your years of victory of being clean and sober!! Great job!!!

Oh, and one doesn't need a tick bite to be exposed to Lyme.  Even through a mosquito bite...everyone, if not already, will be exposed to Lyme...it is just a matter of the immune system keeping it in check...w/heavy metals etc...it is VERY difficult.

Be blessed and do not give up.  Keep searching...and you may find some relief when taking Olive leaf extract (research it) but always take extract with some amount of leaf as well.  Extracts need other components in the original plant to not be hard on certain organs in the body.  You probably will not hear that from almost all doctors, including ND.'s, but it is true.

Blessings,
Wendy B.   C.N.

Have you looked into something called functional medicine? It is a newer type of medicine where the doctor/practitioner looks for the root cause of your illness/symptoms. Google it and maybe look for a practitioner called Dr. Amy Myers. She can do phone consultations to help you out. They can send  you for really detailed stool sample tests to find out what parasites you have...they are bit pricey but you aren't crazy and you are well worth the price of finding out what is wrong with you. A functional medicine doctor will also order tests to find out why your immune system is not functioning properly to kill the parasites and bacteria or other infections off. Then, they will help you boost your immune system and give you anti-parasitic drugs or herbs, anti-fungal drugs or herbs, or antibacterial drugs or herbs as necessary. In many cases, when your immune system is strengthened, you don't need as much help to fight off the other infections, your body will be able to do most of the work on its own. You can even google functional medicine practitioner to find one in your area if you like but don't give up if the first one isn't as helpful or isn't listening to you. Just like conventional medicine doctors, some listen and are extremely helpful, and some aren't. Above all, keep trying to find the answer and keep trying new ways to strengthen your immune system. Here are a few things we tried in our family: www.gapsdiet.com, paleo diet, autoimmune paleo diet, body ecology diet, fermented foods such as 7 day fermented homemade sauerkraut, 24 hour fermented homemade coconut yogourt, 24 hour fermented homemade coconut kefir, eating only GAPS legal foods - you can find the list at www.gapsdiet.com, eating herbs and spices that kill parasites: 2 raw cloves of garlic with each meal, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper with each meal, 1 tsp papaya seeds with each meal, Purge Parasits by New Roots with each meal, cook meats in 2 Tbsp coconut oil with each meal, before eating anything - eat a 1/2 cup of fermented food, eating only coconut flour breads with full fat coconut milk (one recipe: 1 cup organic full fat coconut milk, 1/2 cup coconut flour, 3 eggs, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1/2 tsp basil   cook at 375F for 25 mins), eat one or two 2 inch pieces of this bread at the end of each meal and snack, find out how to do enemas and do either garlic enemas or put the Purge Parasitis in the enema and then get one of those bulb syringe enemas and put 100 billion bacteria in it and put it back in your bowel while you are in a sauna and/or under a Vitamin D lamp.....but most definitely.....eliminate gluten, dairy, sugar, and fruit from your diet until you can sort this out. We have tried all of the above and are now getting our health back. I hope some of this works for you too.

There are MANY different Reasons for you all to be experiencing these problems.  RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) produces the SAME feelings that you all have described.  Lyme Disease can most definitely be a culprit.  Bed Bugs, Head Lice, an Infection Brought On or Advanced by ANY one of the types of the Herpes Virus, Poor Circulation, and Withdrawals from Medications (ESPECIALLY Narcotic Pain Medications), can ALL prove to be Culprits of this Feeling.

It bothers me SO much hearing about the "Mistreatment", "Mismanaging" and "Accusations" towards you guys by the Medical "Professionals".  I have had to deal with MANY Incompetent and NON-Caring Doctors over the past 30 years of my life, with my last encounter this past Friday Evening at the Emergency Room of one of the Hospitals around here.  When I was Brought to the ER, it was because my Jaw had Locked Shut and I have been experiencing OTHER Post-Surgical Complications from a Minor Surgery that was done on Wednesday October 2nd.

There ARE Support Groups out there for pretty much EVERYTHING, and I suggest that you all find some.  Aside from the SUPPORT received at a Support Group, the other "Members" are/can be VERY Thoughtful and Helpful when it comes to helping you to find out what is going on SPECIFICALLY with YOU.  If they ARE or HAVE gone through the same things, or SIMILAR things, that you are going through, chances are that they can help you find a MYRIAD of Doctors who WON'T Judge You and who WILL take you Seriously.

Whatever you decide to do, do NOT let any of the Doctors tell you that "it's all in your head" and/or that "you are suffering from 'Delusional Parasitosis' 'Delusional Paranoia' or 'Delusional Psychosis'."  If any of them DO, than "excuse" yourself from you appointment and tell them that you "KNOW there is something going on that is NOT 'all in your head' and that you WILL find a Doctor who is MORE than Willing to help you!"  If the Doctor you are seeing at that time STILL gives you problems, just leave.  However, if they "change their tune", so to speak, and decide to help you, stick around.

Aside from your Regular Primary Care Physicians (PCP's), Dermatologists, and "Infectious Control" Doctor, you should REALLY find a WELL Known and WELL Liked Neurologist.  They are TRULY the only ones who can help you to not only figure out what is going on, but to help you Treat or even Cure it.

I hope that this helped at least SOME of you and at least a LITTLE!  Take Care, and keep us all Up To Date on you all's Progress!!!  Good Luck!  XOXO

My nightmare began back in January 2011. I met my bf in December 2010. He had had a bed bug infestation in his apt. Turns out the whole building was having one. He had to even go to court to have something done. It turns out his apt too had a mites infestation...and surely enough, mites came into my home. This is not an assumption as my cat was staring at the rug and picking something black form it and it kept falling from its mouth when I reached out to grab it, it popped very easily between my fingers. I didn't know much about bed bugs since I never had them and assumed my bf had brought them to the house. Turns out he did bring something in his clothes but it was mites not bed bugs. And ever since, my life has been a nightmare. I removed the rubs, I got rid of my beloved cat who also caught whatever it is I have. He was going crazy running around the apt at night, literally bouncing against the walls, I couldn't help him, so I gave him up. It has been voer 2 years now, and although my symptoms ahve improved I still feel itching and crawling, especially at work. I stumbled upon the healing grapve vine website, and I ahve taken some of teh advise form there. Some people believe this is what's called Morgellon's. I don't know waht to believe or think. I do fall into several categories of different people who have suggested possible causes for this. For one, I am 42, perimenopausic and with a ridiculous hormonal unblance. Then there is the metal in ym legs from a broken leg (many people believe this is originated from metallic toxins) then my bf has a gazzilion fillings (some people believe this comes from silver fillings), then at some point i was exposed to mold (some people think this is caused by mold poisoning). I too felt like I was bit by something I never saw. I have two scars, one on my wrist and one of my thigh to prove it, though the doctors dismiss me as if I just woke up insane from one day being perfectly healthy, active, non drug abuser professional...and according to some doctors I need psychological help. Some people call this, dillusional parasitosis. Which to me is crappy explanation for the medical industry not having a better answer to give us. I am no dillusional, and I am sure that whatever it is, is a parasite. Someone in this site suggested is bad circulation, I too ahve noticed I have terrible circulation, especially when I am sleeping. And my bf legs are totally veined up. Can't help but wonder if its the opposite: I have read parasites and fungus cause veins issues. I know I am rambling...For some time I wanted to think it was bugs, then I stumbled upon morgellon's and I thought it was inside of me. But I cannot help but noticed that when am not sitting at my desk and I switch chairs, it almost goes away completely. I can't help but notice people who come to my house scratching, and I can't ignore the fact that sometimes I walk by people on the bus, the swap at their arm, and look at their arm as if they are looking for something that bit them. I too notice people around me scratching. At work if people come to my cubicle and I am having a bad itching day, I notice them scratching their heads too. If I clean my area with Windex and it gets better, people come to my area and don't scratch. I do not know what the origin of this is, but I do know there are bugs involved with it. Or a fungus, or something we really can't see, but is there making others itch too.
