Dark cirlces

I have major dark under eye circles. I don't know what I should do about them? I get at least 8 to 10 hours sleep every night and drink plenty of water. I have tried a few eye cremes that claim to get rid of dark circles but to no avail and I really don't want to have to spend hundreds of dollars on any more eye cremes that are probably just making the problem worse.
I sleep with my head and shoulders elevated because I read that that helps drain the fluids that cause dark circles but this doesn't seem to be doing anything.
Short of sleeping 14 hours a night, what can I do about this? Is it a skin pigmentation thing that has nothing to do with how tired I am? if so what can I do?

Mine were caused by vitamin deficiencies including iron and calcium.  Also, when I wear my light glasses--I still get bruising.  Much better since less time spent in glasses and better vitamins.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Any one else in the family with this problem? Dark eye circles may be due to fatigue
(which does not apply in your case) ,nutritional deficiencies( how is your diet?),hyperpigmentation (have you applied any products under your eyes prior to the dark circles?),allergies and also heredity. Have you any of these?

Management of the dark circles depends on what the underlying cause is.You may discuss with your dermatologist the advantages of laser therapy and thermage for eradicating the dark circles. In extreme cases, cosmetic surgery may help (brow lift).

Keep us posted for anything.
