Early lesions of Molluscum - risk of infection for partner

I had unprotected sex and I was not aware that the tiny lesion (2 mmm) on my penis was an early lesion of Molluscum. It was not waxy or pearly white. It looked like a gland increased in size. Maybe I had some incipient lesions in the pubic area, that I did not know. After 2 weeks the lesion incresed in size, 3 very small showed up close by and others became prominent and palpable in the pubic area. I read that Molluscum lesions are spread when the waxy core breaks open and contacts skin. That small Molluscum leasion I had was not having a central umbillication and did not extrude any white material at the time of sex episode (at least to my maco inspection) Please, what are the chances that I infected my sex partner and if I can do something to prevent the viral infection in her? As a personal note, I feel very bad, this thing is affecting me a lot and now I just wait and hope...

Also, I know the incubation period in Molluscum is variable from 2 weeks to 2-3 months. I informed the female partner of everything. Now, I can only hope I did not infect her, or that she is having immunity to Molluscum. I read your posts that in adults the disease is not as contagious as is presented in textbooks and that many adults may not get infected by sexual intercourse. Please, can you give me some advice? Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum! We do understand your concerns and thank you for your questions.

Molluscum contagiosum (MC) is an STD, so there is a chance you infected your sexual partner (if she did not have MC during childhood). There is nothing much you can do except informing your partner about your diagnosis and possibility of her developing MC lesions in near future. The good news is that treatment of MC for immunocompetent adults is not complicated nor does this infection have any long-term consequences.

The other aspect is how to stop feeling bad for what happened. Being sincere and caring towards your partner and yourself are some of best strategies to forgive yourself.
