Ever have a small round, white, bump on skin (looks pus/wax filled)?

I think it MIGHT be called an epidermial cyst .... but, it is round, raised, and my doc said it was due to a small pimple getting clogged with bacteria ..that then formed a wax/pus like bump on my skin (it has been there 4 years)... it is not threatening, but my doc said I could have it removed should I choose. I finally chose to, and it is scheduled for 2 weeks, but now it is pink /tender around it. It has never been that way in four years- any ideas? Should I try to bump up the appointment? Anyone who has had a similar cyst bump welcome
