Flat warts on face

Hi,

Could you please help me/explain how I can get rid of flat warts? They seem to be spreading, I try to shave less, but new ones seem to keep popping up every week (like 3-4 new ones).

Thanks.

Hi.

Tretinoin is available OTC. I do not suggest though that you self medicate as tretinoin has its side effects. Close physician supervision is necessary when you start using the medications. I suggest that you have this assessed by your physician first. Warts are caused by HPV and as viruses they may readily be transmitted. Shaving and frequently touching the face may cause this.

Hi,

Yes, they are flatwarts... I probably will be going to see a dermatologist soon, is tretinoin over the counter? Also, how 'long' would it take for them to go away? It is freaking me out how fast they seem to be spreading.

Thanks.

Hi.

Firstly, it has to be ascertained if these are warts. Other differentials will be skin tags. Flat warts may be treated with cryotherapy or tretinoin. You may discuss this with your dermatologist. Flat warts usually occur on the face and they may readily spread through shaving or frequent skin to skin contact.

I suggest that you try to minimize shaving. However, doing so may not readily stop them from spreading. Treatment with the therapies mentioned above may be the best way to prevent their spread.
