Full body and genital rash

a few weeks ago i noticed that i wash itching my inner thighs and groin quite often.  After inspecting i noticed small red spot scattered all over the itching area.  I also noticed larger red bumps that were raised on the head of my penis as well as 1 on the shaft and 2 more on the scrotum, also iitchy.

since then i also started itching pretty much all over my body.  i have noticed a few of the smaller red bumps in these new areas but sometimes it seems like i'm itching an area that otherwise looks fine.  The worst itch is occuring in my genital area, inner thighs, and recently my knees and shins.  the skin is also red not just dotted with the red spots.

i went to a walk in clinic and after looking at my inner thighs was told that it was eczema because i have dry skin.  She gave me 2.5% hydrocortizone cream to use on it.  At first it seemed to make the smaller red spots on my inner thighs go away but the itch remained and spots would reappear in the new spot.  my first question is it seems like the bumps on my penis are not the same type as the ones on the rest of my body.  Could this be 2 different things?

i have only had 1 sexual partner in my life and she was recently tested for std's before getting birth control so i know it cant be any type of std.  from reading up online my symptoms seem to fit scabies the best but the doctor at the walk in clinic said it was definatly not scabies, although she did not examine my genitals just my inner thighs and the back of my legs.  It seems that my itching is worst at night and after showers which i read is consistant with scabies; however, my girlfriend does not have any symptoms, nor my room mate.  even then we dont share towels or cloths and no one but my girl frind has had prolonged contact with my skin, so if she doesn't have it how else could i get it?

another thing i thought of was folliculitis.  this could be causeing my severe itch but is it typical to have it over this extensive of an area and that doesn't acount for the bumps on the head of my penis.

the cortizone cream doesn't seem to be helping too much especially with the genital bumps so i really want to know what this is.  even though i know i cant have an std it's still scaring the **** out of me and the full body itch has become so much of a nuisance that it's affecting my every day life.  I could really use some answers, i'm sick of not knowing what this is or how to make it go away.

i'll be seeing a different doctor soon also but with alot going on right now i dont even have time to go till next week :-(

I have eczema on my hands.  I started having problems with my hands itching about 3 years ago after the birth of my daughter.  I was diagnosed with dyshidrotic eczema.  About 3 weeks ago I had several itchy red spots on my neck, arm and elbow.  I have never had chicken pox and thought that could be the cause.  My spots looked similar to chicken pox.  But it has only spread my arm and elbow have healed but I now have red itchy spots on my butt and public area.  I have had the same sex partner for over6 years.  And little sexual activity recently.  Very unlikely I could have any kind of STD.  My dermatologist cant see me for almost another month.  This is very embarrassing and gross and itchy.  I looked up scabies and thats not it.  Mine are large red bumps.  I freaked out and cleaned everything in my house and wrapped all bed and couches in bedbug covers.  There is no way any parasite has survived.  Also I sleep with my 3 year old and she has no spots.  What do I do?  My eczema has never looked anything like this.

Hi,

It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or eczema.

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).

Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema. Keeping the affected area moistened can promote skin healing and relief of symptoms.
