Genital Rash Before Period

Diagnosed and successfully treated for Genital Herpes Virius 1.  This was last September. No breakouts since the intial.  What has happened is that in my 'genital outer' area I have been getting a mild non-itchy rash/irritation.  From what I have been reading it could be caused from hormones and impending period, but since I have the HSV-Gential 1 in my system it may be a reaction to it.  Does not itch or hurt. Goes away once period is done.

Anyone else experience this???

I had the same problem!! Had a HSV 1 gential outbreak last year and didn't have a outbreak since. But I get this rash on my outer vagina area right before period! Strange. Did you find out why this happens?

Thank you for your input. Prior to contacting HSV-Gential; 1 I never had any pre-period rashes or irritations. That is why I believe it's in conjunction with have the HSV-Genital 1; now in my system.  Luckily, it's not bothersome, just appears right before menstruation and ceases once period starts.  Again, thank you for taking the time to respond.

Hi,

You have noted that your symptoms have been treated successfully. This may not be likely due to the genital herpes. Since it is closely associated with the menses, hormones may play a role here.

Maintain good genital hygiene especially during menstruation when the vaginal flora may be disrupted. Also, when was the last time you had a pap smear done? A pap smear and pelvic exam may not be indicated for your condition but may be helpful for a baseline assessment.
